Binaural Sound Healing Music: Meditational Healing Through Light And Sound
Binaural sound healing is a process whereby a person listens to two separate frequencies in a musical piece, each delivered into one earpiece (one right, one left) of the headphones used for listening. The frequencies harmonize perfectly with the key of the piece they are listening to, and the brain sorts out the type of frequency. Unconsciously they are sorted into alpha waves, delta waves, or theta waves, respectively. This procedure works because the two hemispheres of the brain become connected via the corpus callosum, the connecting structure between the two halves.
Binaural sound healing music is a piece of sound therapy. This process allows people to find a different level of being, specifically aiding those unable to get quality rest. Binaural sound healing music also gives an individual a better understanding of their inner being, allowing for creativity to bloom.
The field of sound therapy, however, is not limited solely to the implementation of binaural sound healing music. It encompasses many other techniques, including massage therapy, voice healing, tuning fork treatments, and crystal bowl massage. The emphasis of this therapy is on healing, remaining healthy, increasing awareness, and connecting with one's spiritual self. Sources for these techniques include the ancient cultures of Egypt, India, China, and Japan.
Another way in which binaural sound healing music can be used is in combination with light therapy. Certain healers, following Eastern traditions of meditation, theorize that different individuals are drawn to different colors because these colors bring focus on the angels of healing that are most needed for that person at the present time. The color selected is most capable of healing and nourishing the affected person at the given time.
Methods of healing through color are offered by members of the Devic Kingdom, described in Eastern mysticism as angels of healing. The colors can be applied externally through light sources or they can be internally visualized. This tradition identifies seven different areas of light or rooms of healing.
Audiocassettes with meditation journeys on them are available to people who would like to try out this kind of mindful meditation. The healing of the body from minor to severe maladies - from allergies to cancer - is a main focus of this type of meditation. If this isn't the route for you, or if you are practiced at meditation techniques, you can use any tapes of soothing music as background for your visualization of the inner temple of healing.
