Let's face it but you have to realize that during the past few years home schooling has become increasingly popular. This is in addition to the more accepted arguments for or against home schooling. The reasons behind many families choosing to homeschool are many. We have to keep in mind that home schooling was the educational opportunity that was the norm before the advent of public schooling. Many families are finding home schooling assists in building closer family relationship.

The reasons families choose home schooling are as varied as the families themselves. There is no correlation between a family's present socio-economic standing and their decision to educate their children at home. The biggest reason given for a lot of families decision to home school has been cited as safety from perceived dangerous public school scenerios.

More Reasons For Home Schooling

In addition to attempts to protect their children some proponents of home schooling also believe that placing a child into such a rigid, unforgiving public school environmnent is counterproductive. This concept has seen agreement from several areas. Many propoents of home schooling cite the studies that have been done that give some merit to the argument that placing a young child into the public school system is actually harmful academically, socially and mentally.

Most who believe in home schooling contend that as children the desire to learn is greater than in adults. Studies would suggest that a child will learn more and faster in a familiar environment. Keeping them in the home enables them to learn at their own pace while providing them the education they will need later in life.

Make no mistake about it there are a lot of home schooling opponents that feel that a child will miss out on the proper social development opportunities by being home schooled. This is counter to those that support home schooling who suggest that it is the parents and their home life that sets the tone for the child's social abilities. If you think about it this makes a lot of sense considering that in a formal school environment they may be in school for up to 180 days every year.
