All About Stenciling

Don't worry I'm doing it on my property as an art murual its legal. I just need some tips. I'm going to stencil it with some cardboard but how do I get it to sick out I mean really show how many colors ? I am going to write my name GABRIEL in snake letters ! Can anybody show me their work or good sites to get inspired thanx bye

look at www.banksy.co.uk For stencils, take any image and dump it into 'photoshop' or 'paint' or some other such drawing program and turn the b&w contrast way up until you get a black and white image that looks like a stencil should. Make sure that there are no "islands" - parts of the stencil/painting that don't connect to the other parts. Print it out and cut it out with an exacto blade, a sharp razor. Spray paint it onto cardboard and cut it out again and voila! You can also project such an an image onto large pieces of cardboard with an image projector, if you have access to such a device. Don't use too much paint. Experiment with layers. Remember with stencils, the less paint you use, the better. No Drips! For writing - practice, practice, practice. Bold colors work the best. If you draw, work on making smooth lines. With the can, work on speed and can control. Find someone better than you and apprentice with them.
